Brickbats

Reason magazine has a feature called "Brickbats" which features amusing
excerpts from newspaper and magazine articles. Below are a sampling.
- In Hillsboro, Illinois, the Rev. Anthony Dearinger faces felony
charges of cruelty to children. It seems the pastor threw an
8-year-old boy across the church during a sermon to demonstrate what
will happen when God meets Satan on Judgment Day. (6/94)
- "We called the stolen car victim and told her we had some
good news and some bad news," said El Cajon, California, police
spokesperson Debbie Setzer. "The good new is that we recovered your
car. The bad news is that we stole it." Seems that the woman left
her car parked near the police station; officers thought it was an
unmarked police car and drove off in it. (5/93)
- In Tennesee, the Memphis Zoo had to refund the admission
charges to several vistors to a special exhibit on dinosaurs. Seems
the people complained after they discovered there were no live
dinosaurs in the exhibit. (6/93)
