Objectivism WWW Service Frequently Asked Questions

Last modified: January 22, 1997

Here are answers to some of the more commonly asked questions we encounter:

Where can I go for more information on Objectivism?

The best place is the writings of Ayn Rand, especially The Fountainhead Atlas Shrugged The Virtue of Selfishness Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal. These books can be found in most bookstores.

In addition, our entire site is dedicated to answering this question. We have a "one-page" summary of Objectivism, and there are several essays available, including some introductory talks written by one of the editors of this site. Please review our front page for pointers to bibliographies and other resources both on and off the net.

Can I sign up for your email list?

The Objectivism WWW Service does not maintain an email discussion list. There are several email discussion lists open to anyone interested in Objectivism. People new to the philosophy, or with questions about it, may find the forum objectivism@vix.com particularly helpful. See our page on online discussion groups for more information on the lists and how to subscribe.

Please tell me more about ...

The objectivism-www@vix.com list is populated by a small staff, and we do not have the resources to enter into discussions about Objectivism. You will find many people eager to do so on one of the online discussion forums.

Why is your site not updated more frequently?

Manpower. Manpower. Manpower. We simply do not have the staff or the time at present to regularly update the pages. All our staff members are volunteers who cannot work on the site full time.

If you are willing to lend a hand, we would really appreciate it! There are many different things to work on. Contact us for more information or if you would like to volunteer.

What's up with these cookies?

Cookies are bits of information a host site gets your browser to store locally, so that it can poll this information later. Some people are concerned that the cookies store personal information, or that they will result in being unwillingly subscribed to a mailing list or in receiving solicitiations. The Objectivism WWW Service does not use cookies for these purposes.

We do use cookies as part of our Concepts in a Hat game. They are used to record the last pair of concepts that you looked at, so when you return to the pages, you will see this pair by default.

It has been brought to our attention that other pages on our site, not connected to Concepts In A Hat, are setting cookies. We are still investigating this, but rest assured that they are not being used for any intentional purpose on our part.
