The Institute for Justice is the nation's first classical liberal, public interest litigation organization---a sort of free-market ACLU. The Institute describes its mission as ``advancing Liberty through the Courts of law and public opinion.''
The Institute has fought against government intervention with DC hair braiders and shoe shiners; for school choice for parents in Chicago and Los Angeles; against government-enforced taxi monopolies in Denver; for private-property rights in South Carolina; and against mandatory public service in highschools around the country. They have published op-ed pieces in the Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, and other local and national papers.
